What you should know about our products
Buying handmade isn't like buying mass-produced jewellery as found in every high street store.
Each beaded necklace takes 3-5 hours to create. Clay is HARD straight out of the packet, it warms up and becomes soft and pliable as it's kneaded by hand. My house is old and cold so this takes a long long time. Once it's conditioned the colours can be mixed.
Polymer clay can only be mixed in small batches, a handful at a time, so there's only ever 2-3 items made with each batch (you can see the batch size on each listing). This is how you know your necklace is always unique. Next time the colours will be slightly different, the embossed leaf will affix differently or the beads will be a different size. Likewise the hand-dyed ribbon might come from a new batch, a different weight sari or different dip times.
The beauty is in the flaws that show they're created by people, not factories.
Enjoy the flaws, the wobbly beads, the wash of a colour not quite mixed entirely. The imperfections are our authenticity.
Our fastening ribbon
- Our ribbon is a reclaimed product from sari manufacturing in India reclaimed from sari production in factories in India and made into ribbon lengths in rural India using handmade traditional techniques by women's co-op groups. Therefore it may have areas that are frayed and have evidence of the manufacturing process such as ripping, holes, writing or stitching, this is part of the charm of using this product.
- They are hand dyed and may have areas that are over or under-dyed, including 'speckles'.
- Rarely, some parts of the ribbon may be embroidered or have embellishments such as sequins along with patterns or embossed areas.
- If your ribbon becomes creased, iron with a cool iron, with a layer of cotton between the iron and the ribbon.
Please note, beads are a choking hazard and should not be worn by, or left within reach of children.
